To me, effective teaching is all about the process of discovery. My goal in the classroom is to help students discover how to think critically and deductively. My personal goal is to discover impoved ways to infect my students with a passion to learn and an awareness of what it means to truly understand a topic. If these goals are met, then the student emerges with skills that transcend subject matter and time. I like to interject some humor into these discussions as I find that it tends to relax the class and close the distance between myself and my students. This discovery process does not come cheaply - not for my students or for me. I have high expectations of my students and myself. I try to bring a great deal of energy to the classroom and engage the class in discussions as much as possible.
