My primary goals in teaching are to help students develop skills that can be used for solving a wide variety of problems and to encourage them to expand their creativity through the exploration of new technology. I have written textbooks for Chemical Engineering students. My classrooms provide a thought-provoking and challenging environment that combines modern chemical engineering processes with fundamental scientific principles. I have sought to cultivate and implement a pedagogy that promotes both reciprocity and personalized interaction as students are encouraged to work in groups and are also given the opportunity to have one-on-one discussion sessions with me where they may air any questions about their projects or interests. Further, a website is provided for each of my courses so that students can get help and feedback quickly on specific course requirements and concerns. My research lab is always open for interested students who often have the opportunity to interact with visiting researchers and gain different perspectives on research subjects.
