I facilitate learning by creating conditions that make psychology stimulating, interesting, and a real adventure to study. I do this by bringing the subject matter out of the textbook and into the real world. Students can then readily see how psychological terms and concepts are evident in their everyday lives. To encourage students to become wiser consumers of media information and to correctly interpret what they see or hear, I address critical thinking skill development, particularly between evidence and interpretation. In this regard, I emphasize scholarly writing and presentations.

Students have different learning styles; therefore, I use an eclectic style of teaching. I complement traditional lectures with: overhead, chalkboard, handout and multi-media displays of information; individual and group activities; guest lecturers; colorful demonstrations; humor; and very active, performance-oriented, and hands-on learning. The result of all of these activities is frequent and regular class participation with students enthusiastic to learn.
