Instructor's Homepage

My goal in every class is to promote students' independent thought on the basis of expanded knowledge and concepts. Since women's studies courses are famous for "making the familiar strange," I try to help students examine both their own ideas and the ideas of our society in light of new information and ideas. I encourage dialogue in every class, both between myself and students and among students. I approach each class I teach as a learning experience for myself, and I look forward to learning from my students. Even in repeat courses, I find new information and ideas, and I try to share that sense of discovery with students. I am also dedicated to promoting students' analytical and writing skills, which are transferrable to every field of inquiry and endeavor. Finally, since I find learning fun, I try to help students enjoy the learning process.
