The courses I teach are at the graduate level and each deals with some dimension of research methods in the social/behavioral sciences. I have three broad objectives in these courses: (1) eliminate any apprehensions about conducting research, (2) teach students to conduct valid research and (3) teach how to consume research (critiquing method). I typically teach either deductively or inductively. Either method necessitates lots of real-life examples, extending principles beyond theory, so that students emerge with a lot of practical, pragmatic abilities.
